Our Step by Step Design Process

Every design firm does this differently so it's not surprising that one of the first questions I get as an interior designer is "how do you work?" After years of tweaking and refining, we've found this process to be the most thorough and easy to understand for both our clients and our trade partners.

1.Discovery Call

The design process begins with a complimentary 15 minute call to discuss the project's scope and determine if we are the right match. Filling out the form on our website will send an investment guide with more information as well as a calendar link to schedule the call at your convenience.

2. Initial Meeting

If we both feel are a good fit, we move onto an Initial Meeting. This meeting takes place on site and allows me to get a feel for the space and scope. I take photos and measurements and craft a custom flat fee Design Proposal based square footage and scope. Once approved with a 50% deposit, the design process begins!

3. Conceptual Phase

Conceptual Designs include mood boards, floor plans, and initial selections with budget to steer us in the right direction. These are presented on site at the Conceptual Design meeting. Once full round of revisions is included.

4. Detailed Design Phase

Once Conceptual Designs have been approved, we start to work on Detailed Designs. This phase consists of sourcing specific products, gathering samples and pricing for a formal Design Presentation. The Detailed Design Presentation is held on site. One full round of revisions is included.

5. Purchasing & Execution Phase

Upon receiving payment for items included in the Detailed Designs, ordering and construction begins. Necessary documents such as spec books, drawings, and elevations are shared with appropriate trades. Alicia Thomasson Interiors performs site visits to oversee progress and remains in communication with your contractor and other trades.

6. Install & Wrap Up

After construction is complete, we schedule an Install Day to fill your space with your new items and style accordingly. A walk through is held and punch list is created to fine tune any details. After the project is complete, we schedule a photoshoot to capture your stunning new space.
